We have extended our maternity range to include the gorgeous Cake Lingerie. Cake offers a flexi-wire bra which offers extra support especially for DD to G cups. It’s a welcome addition which is proving to be very popular.
I realise that maternity lingerie may not be on your personal shopping list, but if you know anyone who is pregnant or nursing she’s going to love it, so let her know, and rescue her from beige!

How Eve’s Gift can assist the Bride

Posted in Bridal Lingerie by admin @ Mar 27, 2009

bride2Your wedding day is possibly the most important of your whole life. You are going to look fantastic, and everything is going to be just right, just for you. Including what you wear next to your skin.

This is where Eve’s Gift comes in, and we may be about to tell you something that may surprise you…

Many brides have in mind a pretty, frilly, lacy, and very sexy piece of lingerie. This may not be the best thing for you. The best is going to be the lingerie that is best for your wedding dress. If your dress is made of a heavy fabric you may be able to wear whatever you choose, if however it’s a light, thin, silky material it may be too unforgiving, and you don’t want the pattern from an undergarment to show through.
You’re going to need something functional, smooth, plain, and uncomplicated. Most importantly it’s going to have to be comfortable.

If you can, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with your new bridal lingerie by wearing it a couple of times before your big day; Rather like a new pair of shoes, it will feel better if it doesn’t feel brand new and unusual, and since this is difficult to do with your actual dress, maybe you can do it with your underwear!

When you come into Eve’s Gift we’ll begin by determining your correct size, up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra!

We’ll then go about finding the right undergarment to go with your wedding dress. If we have to compromise between aesthetics and practicalities then so-be-it. You can always compensate yourself with some gorgeous honeymoon lingerie!

We love it when brides bring their wedding dress in to the shop, and if you’d like to make an out-of- hours appointment to this just give us a call. Alternatively, brides have been known to come in directly from their first fitting with pen marks on their skin to show where the dress starts and finishes! -You may like to consider this!

Some Advice for Men

Posted in The Bloke's Bit! by admin @ Mar 27, 2009

The best advice we can give you is quite simple;
“BUY HER SOME SEXY LINGERIE!”
It will last longer than flowers, is less fattening than chocolate, cheaper (just!) than jewellery, and you’ll love looking at it too! It might change your life!

OK, would you like some more detail about what to get her?

  • Firstly (and without being obvious and getting yourself into trouble!) take a look at what she’s already got.
  • Yes we do mean sneak a peek into her undie drawer.
  • Look at the labels, see what brands she likes best. See what colours she prefers, and importantly see what size she wears.
  • You’re going to need a size for briefs, S, M, L etc, and a size for the bra (assuming that you’re buying a set)
  • You’ll need two sizes. The 10, 12, 14, etc. is the size of her chest and the A, B, C, D etc. is the size of the cup of her breasts, you’ll end up with a combined i.e. 14C, then we’ll know what size you need.
  • We consider this a better method than looking at us and saying “a bit bigger than you!”

Bra Fitting

Posted in Latest Designs by admin @ Mar 27, 2009

blanco_push_blackIt is estimated that up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong size of bra.

Indications of bad fitting include:

  • breasts squeezed out of cups
  • breasts sagging, not supported within bra
  • shoulder straps cutting in
  • rear and front not level
  • center of bra not touching at the sternum
  • breasts not contained fully by the bra

A bra that fits perfectly will give both support and comfort.
